Is your local trading post a good place to find a good family pet?
yes-and it's cheaper than if you get it from some of those uptight breeders who want to charge $500+

NO.
Either go to a shelter or find a reputable breeder.

Yes. The pets (I'm assuming an animal such as a cat or dog) are mostly raised in a home environment, so are accustomed to human interaction and family living. My first cat I bought from the local trading post and he was the most gorgeous best friend, with the most charming, cheeky personality. When he died, we bought a kitten from an animal shelter. She was born there and didn't get enough individual attention or learn social behaviours. She went crazy when seperated from her mother, and then hissed at us for weeks whenever we walked into the room! She's a lot better now, but still gets frightened easily and doesn't like new people. Moral of the story is that having a pet from the trading post is a very good idea! Not that I'm in anyway criticizing the wonderful work of animal shelters who save many animals lives…
